Have you been thinking about writing a kid’s book but aren’t sure where to start? I was in that same boat about 5 years ago, except I wasn’t like you who does their research before jumping into something. Instead, I made all the mistakes a newbie writer WOULD make if they never learned what it takes to publish a kid’s book.
So in today’s first episode of the Journey to KidLit podcast, I’m laying out the 3 action steps every new writer MUST take to learn to write a kid’s book. (Before you make the same mistakes I did!)
Journey to KidLit Podcast – Episode 1: The 3 Action Steps a New Writer must take to Write a Kid’s Book
Listen to today’s podcast to learn more about what it took to finally be able to publish 3 picture books this year and the 3 steps you must take before you submit your story idea to publishers.

Hi and thanks for this information.
I have been writing for several years as a ghost writer and would just LOVE to Publish my own book but the process just seems too daunting and I never get there. I am looking forward to hearing your podcasts in future. I thought it was very well presented and with just enough information to make the podcast easy to listen tt but at the same time offer worthwhile steps to follow. Thank you for this.
Hi Christina! Thank you for your kind words! I’m glad you liked the podcast. Yes – be on the lookout every Saturday for new posts. 🙂 As for your own book, I know it’s a lot of work but it will be so satisfying once you get to hold a book with YOUR name on it! Keep it up. You can do it. <3
Thanks for your informative journal. I have a dream of self publishing children’s book.
Hey Brooke,
I was so excited to find your podcast. It was simple and to the point and so informative. I am new to the whole podcast world and yours is the first one that I am going to follow in the writers genre. I have illustrated 2 books that were self published and am scared, yet looking forward to writing and illustrating my own book. Thank you for your advice and I cant wait to hear more from you.
Hi Jan – Thank you for your kind words! I’m so glad you’ve found it helpful. (I wanted to make sure it was quick so it wouldn’t feel daunting, yet filled with the info you need! So I’m glad it resonated.) Congrats on your books! That’s so amazing. 🙂 I can’t wait to hear how the rest of your publishing journey goes. Keep up the awesome work!
